3D Printing Woes

Lately, I've gotten a little more ambitious trying to 3D print characters but it just doesn't seem to pan out. I have an Ender 3 that, as far as I know, has solid reviews, but I can't seem to get a print taller than 3 inches out of it. The filament doesn't stick to the painters tape I use on top of the heated print bed, leading to failed prints. I've looked up how to increase print bed adhesion and have tried using hairspray but this only seems to work for faster, smaller prints. I need something even stickier so I may apply glue stick to the painters tape. I don't think I've owned a glue stick for over half a decade but I'm hoping Target has some for cheap.

Another related issue I've been facing is that painters tape seems to warp too easily under heat. The tape somehow manages to lift off the print bed even after I though I use long strips of tape and 4 clips. I've thought about the potential for a product to the fill the niche of solving all of these problems but have no idea where to start so it's been existing in the back of my head for now. Maybe one day I'll have the chance to talk to a material engineer and figure out if there's a way around all of these issues.

Here's a print that actually turned out really well!
